Freshness is probably one of the best reasons to buy poultry locally. In my Smoked Thanksgiving Turkey recipe I explain what to look for when buying a turkey. In short, avoid "enhanced" turkeys especially if you'll be brining it. By supporting your local farmers you'll can get the same great birds from year to year AND they'll be fresh.
